Read the whole article here (Only in Norwegian).]]> Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2008 Mackmyra Privus:03 is awarded "European Mainland Whisky of the Year". This is the second year a Mackmyra whisky is awarded that title. Last year Mackmyra Preludium:03 won the award.

Privus:03 gets 96 av 100 points and the following tasting notes:
"Peat - Mackmyra style! That means both boldness and delicate tones moulded together - and something herbal just to offer a uniq slant. [...] Sensational. Because this is no "me too" whisky. It challanges, asks questions, makes statements. Every expression appears to further and expand my own experience and expectations of whisky, which really is saying something."

Personal stories on the queueing for Preludium can be read on the Preludium blog (only in swedish).]]> Mackmyra Preludium has been awarded a Silver medal (Best in Class) at the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC), one of the biggest competitions of its kind in the world.

Mackmyra Svensk Whisky took its place at this year’s IWSC with three different bottlings. The third issue in the Preludium range, Mackmyra Preludium:03, was awarded a Silver medal (Best in Class). The two other bottlings at the event also won prizes: Mackmyra Preludium:04 and a bottled Mackmyra Reserve were awarded Silver medals

“This is proof once more that our young whisky is maintaining a high quality,” says Magnus Dandanell, MD and one of the founders of Mackmyra Svensk Whisky. “This is the second time that one of our whiskies has won a Best in Class silver medal at the IWSC.”

“Awards of this kind offer us encouragement as we continue along our chosen path to produce Swedish malt whisky of a very high quality and to put it on the world map,” says Magnus Dandanell.

The International Wine and Spirit Competition was founded in 1969 and is the oldest and one of the most prominent competitions of its kind in the world. Every year the IWSC evaluates more than 5,000 different contributions from more than 50 countries, employing carefully monitored evaluation processes including blind tastings and chemical analyses. Mackmyra’s first bottling, Mackmyra Preludium:01, was awarded the Silver medal (Best in Class) at the IWSC in 2006.]]>
