A new tradition worth creating
Producing whisky is an old, tried and tested way of capturing the flavours in the ingredients. The Scots and the Irish realised this long ago, but we Swedes stayed with our schnapps and beer. Maybe we didn’t have the patience required for the long process of producing whisky. We have the ingredients, and they are of a very high quality. And now we also have the expertise. The time is ripe for a whisky with a Swedish character.
On 6 March 2006 we launched our first bottled product. Mackmyra Preludium:01 sold out in only a few hours, and the same fate has befallen the following releases in the Preludium range. There proved to be more demand for Swedish malt whisky than we believed ourselves.
Since 2002 we have also been offering the opportunity to buy your own cask of Swedish whisky. At Mackmyra Reserve you track your 30-litre cask from filling to your own finished bottles.
