Swedish tastes
After many years of testing and evaluation, we reached our conclusion about how we want a Swedish whisky to be. We are really pleased with not just one, but two whisky recipes. One is fruity and elegant, while the other has a distinctively Swedish, smoky taste. This is because when we smoke the malt we add juniper twigs to the peat, and it is this that provides our Swedish whisky with its unique flavour.
Most people know that whisky gains more character the longer it is allowed to mature. But time isn’t the only factor. The quality and size of the cask are just as important.
The barrels that we use for both of our recipes are either newly manufactured from Swedish oak or newly emptied and quality-controlled after being used for sherry or bourbon. We are the only ones to use casks in sizes as small as thirty litres. Small casks provide a greater contact area between the whisky and the wood. This means that the taste, aroma and colour develop more quickly.
